We now have an Xbox 360
My brother and sister recently decided that they simply MUST have an xbox 360. There was no way my mum was going to buy them one, so they asked dad. Who gave in to their begging after - oh - about 2 seconds.
Yesterday, dad picked Josh up at 9am to do stuff (they ended up shopping. My brother's least favourite sport!) and arranged to meet me and my sister outside our work at 1pm.
When Taylor finally got out of work, she made us go on a hunt for the xbox.
First, we went to HMV. But Tay didn't like the deal they were offering, so we went to Game. She didn't like the deal they had on there, so we went to Zavvi (Virgin Megastore). The deal they were offering wasn't good enough, so she made us go back to HMV.
She haggled with the poor sod in HMV and managed to get the xbox 360 (with a hard drive), Grand Theft Auto IV and Guitar Hero III for £250. We saw an xbox 360 earlier - just the core, so no hard drive - for £200. Each of the games are about £50. So she managed to get a REALLY good deal!
They also got a 20metre ethernet cable and another controller. EVERYTHING together cost less than £300!
I learnt a valuable lesson yesterday: Always take my sister shopping with me!
Josh had the xbox set up yesterday, while Tay was at her boyfriend's house. However, because he's not yet 18, he made ME sign up for the xbox live account thing. And I don't even get to play on the bloody thing until Tuesday. ![]()
Land's End
Matt and I have been trying to arrange to go to Land's End for months but one of us was always working or busy. We finally managed to go today!
The original plan was for me, Matt, Myke and Vicky to all go together but Vicky wasn't able to come (she left her uni coursework until the last minute and, instead of being able to have a day of fun, she had to code all day!).
We set off at about half nine this morning. We got there at midday.
We walked around and saw the famous Land's End sign^ and the beautiful views^. We walked over to the watchtower^ and had a poke around^. We saw^ some^ animals^ and finally, we chucked some money down the wishing well (after making a wish)^.
A great day was had by all!
We have to do it again some time!
(If you want, you can view all of my Land's End photos on Flickr!^)
The Estate We're In
I was looking in the TV guide the other day and saw a photograph of what was a very familiar looking building...
I read the article which went with the photograph^ and it was about a new programme which was about to air, called "The Estate We're In".
Myke and I started watching it yesterday on BBC iPlayer^; it's about a block of flats in Plymouth's Swilly (North Prospect) area.
Bad Chavs have broken through the security doors and sit inside the block of flats to have a cigarette, smoke their drugs, graffiti, have fights, etc. It's gotten so bad that a woman called Silla Carron (who turned her bad estate into a lovely estate) has come to make the are better.
We're only on episode three at the moment (we'll be watching episodes four and five tomorrow) and it's really interesting. It shows just how bad some of the areas are in Plymouth (when everyone else in the country seems to think it's a lovely and idyllic place to live).
(In defense to Plymouth, it's not ALL like that. There ARE a few nice areas.)
