Sleeping

Posted on February 6th, 2007 at 6:16pm

I have a couple of unusual sleeping habits.

The strangest one would have to be the fact that I self-harm in my sleep. I don't use razorblades or knives or anything like that - I just claw and dig out chunks of skin, I quite often wake up to very long scratches on my arms and I even went through a phase where I'd rip out my nose stud. Lately, I've been pulling on my new earrings.

Another not-normal sleeping habit I have is sleep talking. This might seem kind of normal to most people but most people can't carry a conversation while they're asleep, whereas I can.

I also know I wriggle about in my sleep sometimes - I've woken up quite a few times with my legs up where my pillow is, or half hanging off my bed.

I've always worried about sleeping with someone - will I hog the covers? I hurt myself in my sleep...what if I hurt the person I'm sleeping with? Will I hurt the person I'm sleeping with? What if I wriggle in my sleep and the poor person I'm sleeping with ends up with my feet in their face? What if I try talking to that person in my sleep and say stuff I wouldn't say while I'm awake? What if they try using my ability to hold a conversation while I'm asleep, to find out what I *really* think of them, what I don't like about them, what I do like about them, etc? (Sam said he'd do that. :( )

(By the way...I'm talking about sleeping with someone as in "zzz" - you know: SLEEP.)

I'm not too worried anymore - I slept with Sam on Saturday.

We decided we'd have a few drinks and get "hammered" (drunk), then go to sleep. SLEEP. We made reservations at a hotel in Plymouth for Saturday, the 3rd of February.

Sam picked me up at 4:30ish, we got some drinks and munchies (food) at some big shop. Matt and Vicky were working but looked busy (and in Vicky's case, really really angry), so we didn't go over and say "Hi!".

We checked into our room. The room was big and I thought it was pretty nice (I think Sam thought that too, even though he moaned about the painting / decorating 8-) ).
The bed? Huge - I had to climb the bed to get on it and it was also very wide - I could have slept sideways on it.

We sat around drinking for a bit before we decided to head off to "our pub" for a few drinks. We only ended up having one drink before going back to our room - it was really loud in there again; we were sat less than a foot away from each other but to talk, we had to yell in each other's ear.
Even though it was only something like a five minute walk, we actually walked quite far for a drink. 8-)

After getting back to our room, we both just sat around drinking and chatting and stuff, before getting ready for bed, some time after 3am.
I went into the bathroom to get changed into my pyjamas and when I came back out of the bathroom, he was watching some trippy TV programme. I think I fell asleep soon afterwards because I don't remember anything after that strange TV programme (some guy had a talking tongue with eyes  ).

I woke up at about twenty to nine. I have to say, waking up to kisses and cuddles beats the hell out of being woken up to Crookshanks playing with my earrings or meowing for food or something!

I felt fine until I got home - there was some chocolate cake on the side, so I decided to have a slice. Then the hangover hit me. :( I was in bed by 10 that night.

I had a great weekend. :)

I don't know why I worried about sleeping in the same bed as someone else. Seriously - there was nothing to worry about, really. And I wouldn't object to sleeping around his now.
