Poorly

Posted on December 7th, 2007 at 10:42pm

I've had either the Most Horrific Cold Ever or I've had The Flu.

It started on Monday, with just a sore chest and throat and a slightly sniffley nose, which gradually got worse and worse.
On Tuesday, I woke up with full-on cold (or flu) symptoms: snotty nose, headache, body ache, sore throat, etc.

I've gradually felt worse, despite taking my 'life-savers' (Lemsip Max Cold & Flu tablets).
I think one of the reasons I've felt worse and worse each day is because I've not been sleeping very well (I've been up, coughing all night, for the past five nights).

I dragged myself out of bed this morning at half ten (I just couldn't lie there anymore). I coughed and spluttered and felt sick with it until half eleven. At half eleven, I started getting ready for work.

It took me three hours to get washed and dressed because I was coughing so much that it was making me throw up.

I finally got into work and, as I was walking through to put my stuff in my locker, I noticed some of the staff were just stopping and staring at me. I got to the canteen and there was another cashier, due to start the same time as me, staring at me. I ask her, "Do I really look that bad?" and she said "Yes!!".
I also realised that my voice had pretty much gone (no one was at home, so I didn't speak until I got to work).

Great. I feel like crap, I'm coughing my guts up every few minutes and I can barely make any noise when I try to speak.

Today wasn't too bad, despite feeling like death because of my Most Horrific Cold Ever / The Flu.

I had numerous people telling me I should go home but I refused. I dragged myself in, I'm damn well staying there!

I feel damn proud that, despite wanting nothing more than to go to bed, I all but finished my shift (I got sent home about five minutes early).

Anyway, I have tomorrow to recover. :D
